Ram Trucks Superbowl commercial
When Ram released their new commercial ad for the new trucks, during the Super Bowl, I thought it was a well designed and crafted commercial. Until i heard Martin Luther King Jr speech come up during it. I think that using MLK is very much in poor taste. To use a man's words, someone who fought for equality among races and played a key role in getting our country to give people of color the rights they deserve. All to sell a truck. That is disrespectful and shows a lack of respect for what MLK really meant for the county, and MLK's family stating that they had nothing to do with the publishment of the ad, reveals that Ram didn't even get suitable permission.
Clear
Clear
This last image highlights the main focus of the critical lens theory of race and how many people today use their color to get away with clear acts of crime and cruelty, using something so falsely understood to their advantage. For instance, the George Zimmerman case, where he shot and killed Trayvon Martin when there was clearly no harm done, but because Martin was a young black teenager walking outside with the hoodie at night, he was assumed to me a robber and Zimmermann was still able to get off "not guilty" because he played the self defense card.
The Racist Bully
The Racist Bully
This cartoon of a man of color being asked for a permit, while the white man sits beside him doing the same thing, is not asked a single thing, really reveals a deeper message. This reveals something about today's society and that while one race may commit a certain crime, the other race will get more heavily punished due to skin color and ethnicity. Just look at specific murder cases and how white men got off on killing's because they played the self defense card, when in reality there was no harm done to them.
Police Racism
This image highlights the idea that racism is constantly faced by people of color. Also conveying that its normally the police doing the racist acts. While many black men and women are not thought to own, their own luxury items or a home for that matter, police constantly assume they are stealing from someone who does have these things, such as the white man.

Donald Trump calls Africa a "sh*thole"
Donald Trump = Racist
For Donald Trump, the president of our country and home, to say the disgusting things he said to and about the people of Haiti and Africa, is not only cruel minded, it shows the lack of respect for men and women who have fought so hard and reveals just how racist Donald Trump Jr is.
Africa and Haiti have gone through so much over the years, with Haiti facing the massive earthquake that left their homes and shambles, still needing rebuilding, to Africa constantly being put on the curb, with low expenses and attention to things like schools and the childhood development. They have been through enough, if not more than than the USA and Donald Trump completely shows that he ignores all of that. Its childish and disrespectful.

"Racism should never have happened and so you don't get a cookie for reducing it."
This quote said by Ngozi conveys the thought that if racism never happened, the many people who fought and died to "abolish/end" would have never had to go through all the trouble. Therefore even though people today may reduce the act of racism, if it were never started there would be no need to reduce it.

"Ifemelu, his suicide attempt was from depression"...many teenagers suffer from it."
Although this quote is centered around Ifemelu and the idea of attempting suicide, there can be a connection between the critical lens of race. While suicide is a very important matter and affects millions, this quote may highlight to some that, because of the ethnic background or overall color of somebody's skin, e.g (black), they already have tons of pressure placed upon them by their parents to be better than the stigma/stereotype in which society places them under. This causes added stress and could be a benefactor for why many teenagers, especially black, may attempt or think of suicide.
